Stratená Accommodation: Havrania skala and Nature

Near the small municipality of Stratená, Havrania skala is a distinctive and important peak and offers one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Slovenský raj. The official circular trail to Havrania skala starts and ends in Stratená. Via Zajfy, this official circular trail runs without ladders or metal footholds. The Havrania skala massif contains dozens of small caves, some of which are accessible to tourists via official hiking trails. Nature

The Stratená Nature Reserve protects well-preserved forest ecosystems in varied terrain. These include larch and pine stands on limestone rocks. Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) occurs relatively frequently in the nature reserve. The area also includes the cadastral territory of Stratená.

Trails

From the settlement of Dobšinská Ľadová Jaskyňa, a climb of approximately 1 km leads to the cave, gaining 130 metres in elevation and taking around 25 minutes. The route is thus described by an approximate length, elevation gain and approximate walking time. Independently of this, the Tiesňava Valley near Stratená remains closed until further notice after a landslide damaged the entire footpath, including the safety chains. Culture

Dobšinská Ľadová Jaskyňa is a district of Stratená and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. Stratená is also home to the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Augustine, built by Ferdinand Coburg in 1909. A remarkable statue of Mary Magdalene comes from the workshop of Master Paul of Levoča. Skalná Brána is also one of the historical points of reference: its remains bear witness to fighting during the Second World War, while it is also an entrance to Stratenský kaňon.
