History

Kaštieľ Betliar houses the permanent exhibition of the Múzeum Andrássyovcov in the former apartments of the count's family. Kaštieľ Betliar is the only estate in Slovakia that survived after 1945 with its original furnishings and collections; since its nationalisation, it has served practically as a museum.

Kaštieľ Betliar was built between 1881 and 1886 as a residence used primarily as a hunting lodge and museum for its owner's collection. At the end of the main promenade in the park of Kaštieľ Betliar, there is an animal enclosure by the pond in the form of a medieval castle with turrets. The park of Kaštieľ Betliar also includes a Masonic pavilion, a Chinese pavilion, a Japanese bridge, and the Hermes Fountain.

The Andrássy Mausoleum in Krásnohorské Podhradie is one of two branches of the Betliar Museum. It was built in 1903–1904 as an architecturally exceptional burial chapel.
