Winter and Landscape
Pezinská Baba is one of Slovakia’s best-known winter ski areas. Part of the Pezinok District lies within the Malé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The western part of the Pezinok District belongs to the Pezinské Karpaty section of the Little Carpathians. For winter sports enthusiasts, the name Pezinská Baba therefore refers to a specific ski area, while the geographical classification extends beyond the protected landscape area and mountain section.

Wine and Trails
The Malokarpatské Museum in Pezinok offers immersive wine tastings while also conveying the history of winegrowing in the Little Carpathians. The wine education trail in Pezinok covers local wine, its history and its production. Wine tastings are also offered in Pezinok during Vinobranie. The museum, educational trail and event thus provide different ways of exploring wine and winegrowing.
The Malokarpatská vínna cesta combines wine, landscape, history and gastronomy in an area encompassing Svätý Jur, Pezinok and Modra. The Svätojurský educational trail consists of an urban circular route and a nature trail loop. The fourth day of the Cyril and Methodius Route leads from Svätý Jur via Pezinok to Modra and is more than 22 kilometres long. The fifth day leads from Modra via Zochova chata to Červený Kameň Castle. For events and facilities with fixed opening hours, current opening times and dates should be checked before travelling.
Nature and Leisure
The Harmónia recreational area near Modra is connected to Piesok and criss-crossed by hiking and cycling trails. The Veľká Homoľa observation tower is open year-round and can be visited free of charge. The natural swimming pool near Zochova chata is located in Modra–Piesok; the grounds of Zochova chata also include a bike park pump track. The leisure destinations mentioned therefore range from a network of trails and an observation tower to a natural swimming pool and pump track.
The Šúr Nature Reserve contains the only original alder-forest habitat of its kind in Central Europe. For circular routes and longer stages, it is advisable to check current trail conditions and, where applicable, timetables before setting out.
Culture and History
Šimák Castle in Pezinok is surrounded by a park. In Modra, Slovenská ľudová majolika offers a guided tour and a workshop at the potter’s wheel. Modra’s visitor attractions also include the Ignác Bizmayer Gallery, dedicated to the important Slovak ceramic artist Ignác Bizmayer.
Budmerický Manor House is surrounded by an impressive English park. The building has a tall tower with a viewing gallery and a clock in the gable. In Svätý Jur, the town was granted the status of an urban heritage reserve in 1990. The remains of the Neštich hillfort, dating from the Great Moravian period, have also been preserved there.
Červený Kameň Castle served as a family residence for almost four hundred years. Together with the parks, ceramic art and historic sites, it creates a cultural profile ranging from architecture to regional history.
