The cadastral territory of Večelkov lies within the Cerová vrchovina Protected Landscape Area, which includes rare and valuable biotopes. Večelkov is one of the Slovak municipalities located in the Novohrad-Nógrád UNESCO Global Geopark. The landscape consists of treeless rolling hills, scattered forests, a large water reservoir, and traces of regional cultural and industrial history.

Natural environment
The landscape around Večelkov consists mainly of treeless rolling hills, often divided by erosion gullies. The underlying geology is made up of Tertiary rocks and sandstone. Open slopes and incisions therefore shape the visible character of the terrain. In the western part of the cadastral territory, there are scattered beech forests with oak and black locust. The wooded areas thus lie alongside the open forms of the rolling hills and do not form a continuous forest landscape.
Protected plants in Večelkov include poniklec lúčny černastý, kukučka vencová, kosatec nízky, mechúrnik stromovitý, zlatofúz južný, and several species of the genus kavyľ.
Water and leisure
A large water reservoir lies in the cadastral territory of Večelkov, shared with Petrovce and Dubno. The publicly accessible part of the reservoir is used by anglers from all over Slovakia and from abroad. During the summer months, the same publicly accessible part is used mainly by local residents as a swimming area. Fishing and swimming concern the same publicly accessible part of the water reservoir, but differ in terms of the user groups and the seasonal focus. Before visiting, current local notices and the applicable conditions should be checked for activities by the water.
Culture and history
A statue of Sándor Petőfi stands in Večelkov. It was created by the academic sculptor Július Mag, who was born in Večelkov.
Lignite mines operated in the cadastral territory of Večelkov from the mid-19th century.
Paths and connections
Studnička sv. Márie is located in the vicinity of Večelkov. It can be reached via an existing farm track that begins directly outside the village on the main road and follows the Čoma stream. The path runs from its starting point outside the village along the Čoma stream; the spring is located outside Večelkov in the vicinity. Večelkov lies on a road connecting most municipalities in the microregion with the regional centres of Rimavská Sobota, Fiľakovo and Lučenec.
