Accommodation in Píla
Píla is located in the eastern part of the Javorie, in a narrow valley at the foot of Javor, on a right-bank tributary of the Kriváň stream. Javor reaches an elevation of 821 metres. The cadastral area of Píla includes granite rocks of the Veporské Crystalline Complex and volcanic tuffs. Thus, a prominent mountain setting, a narrowly enclosed valley area and different geological rocks come together in and around the village.

Nature
The Píľanský potok, locally also called “Pilňanka”, flows through Píla and empties into the Kriváňsky potok. It rises in the cadastral area of Píla. The Mýtna Reservoir is also located nearby, an attractive fishing area stocked with carp, zander and pike.
The PP Krivánsky potok natural monument covers areas near Podkriváň, Píla near Mýtna and Mýtna and has an area of 10.23 hectares. It protects approximately 2.65 kilometres of the upper course of the Krivánsky potok, part of its tributary, the Bzovský potok, as well as the riverside vegetation. The protected and endangered fern Ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris L., Tod.) occurs in the natural monument.
Trails
A marked hiking route leads from Divín to Píla railway station; a blue-marked variant leads to Javor. The Javor hike begins in Píla, initially follows a yellow-marked route through the village and then continues along a blue-marked route to the summit of Javor. This documents both a connection between Divín and Píla and a colour-marked route to the mountain that begins in Píla.
Culture and History
Every year, Píla holds the local Maypole tradition known as “stavanie a váľanie mája”. The architectural and historical heritage also includes the Píliansky Tunnel and the masonry bell tower. The tunnel was built in 1871 as part of the Šalgotarján–Lučenec–Zvolen railway line and is 121 metres long. The Píla bell tower was built after 1750 and contains a bell cast in 1811.
A railway station was established in Píla in 1942. The Píliansky Tunnel is considered an attraction for photographers and railway enthusiasts and can be conveniently reached from Píla railway station via the former railway track. The historical function of the line and its present-day connection to this former railway track belong together, without presenting the tunnel as an active railway connection.
