Tenna: Trails, lake views and historic traces

Two lakes and the Tenna ridge

The Colle di Tenna separates Lago di Levico from Lago di Caldonazzo. The Chiesetta di San Valentino stands on the ridge of the Colle di Tenna along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta Altinate. The Chiesetta di San Valentino offers views of Lago di Caldonazzo and Lago di Levico. A ridge is the upper line of an elevated landform.

Hiking trails with lake views

The Dòs dei Osèi trail runs across the high ground near Lago di Caldonazzo. If you choose the Giro del Colle di Tenna for a day of hiking, you have an 11.5-kilometre hike through nature with views of Lago di Levico and Lago di Caldonazzo. The Giro del Colle di Tenna passes near Forte di Tenna and the Chiesetta di San Valentino and can be started in Tenna. A hike is a route covered on foot.

Forest, nature and art

In Tenna, there is a nature trail at the Biotopo di Pizé in the Val de l'Orco. The nature trail on the north side of Tenna leads through the forest and the Val de l'Orco to Alberè Park, where nature and art come together. A nature trail is a path whose course is shaped by the landscape.

Bosco della Memoria and “I Segreti degli Gnomi”

The Bosco della Memoria is a 480-metre-long walking trail with 23 works by artists from Trentino. The Bosco della Memoria has two viewpoints overlooking Lago di Levico. A viewpoint is a place from which a landscape can be viewed. The “I Segreti degli Gnomi” walking trail is divided into two routes: the red route is dedicated to children; the green route is aimed at families.

Roman and military traces

A Roman milestone found in Tenna bears the inscription XXXXI [M(ilia) p(assuum)], which indicated the distance from Feltre. A Roman milestone is an ancient road marker that could indicate distances. The milestone of the Via Claudia Augusta now stands by the town hall in Via Venezia. Forte di Tenna was built between 1880 and 1882 as part of the Austro-Hungarian defence system that blocked access to the Valsugana. A defence system is a military framework consisting of defensive structures; in the case of Forte di Tenna, blocking access to the Valsugana was part of its historical function.

The Pineta dell’Alberè

The Pineta dell’Alberè is located at the highest point of the hill. A pineta is a forest dominated by pine trees.
