Rasen-Antholz: Nature Park, Antholz Lake and Castle Ruins

Rasen-Antholz with Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park and Antholz Lake

The Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park also extends into the municipality of Rasen-Antholz. The municipality covers 12,092 hectares, 38 percent of which lie within the nature park. Antholz Lake covers 44 hectares and is up to 38 metres deep. It is the third-largest mountain lake in South Tyrol.

Antholz Lake, Rasner Möser and Wasserwaldile: trails and stations

Two circular trails run through the Rasner Möser biotope. The lakeside circular trail starts at Antholz Lake. When planning a day, the trails in the biotope and the lakeside circular trail can be considered as separate points for a circuit through the natural area. The Wasserwaldile adventure area offers play, exercise and water experiences. It includes a water course, a wobbly bridge, balancing sections and stepping stones. The marble run „Anton’s Journey through the Valley of Water Games“ is also part of the adventure area.

Niederrasen leisure park: mini golf, downhill and pump track

Niederrasen leisure park has a classic 12-hole mini-golf course. The Antholz Niedertal mountain-bike area offers three downhill variants with different levels of difficulty. The term downhill refers here to a descent by mountain bike. The mountain-bike area also has a pump track for children. Hochnall, Regola Brusada, Montone and Almleitenkofel

The Hochnall mountain is located in the immediate surroundings of Rasen-Antholz. The Regola Brusada mountain is also located in the surroundings of Rasen-Antholz. The Montone mountain is likewise located in the surroundings of Rasen-Antholz. The Almleitenkofel mountain is also located in the surroundings of Rasen-Antholz.

Neurasen and Altrasen castle ruins and historic stone bridge

The Neurasen castle ruin was built around 1200 by the Lords of Rasen. It was already a ruin by around 1680. In the 13th century, Altrasen castle ruin had high jurisdiction and belonged to the domain of the Counts of Gorizia in the Puster Valley. A historic bridge is a stone bridge from 1847 that is valuable in terms of architectural history. In 2011, it was restored according to the original plans. It has been preserved as a document of modern road-building craftsmanship. The bridge dates from 1847 and therefore from a later period than the construction of Neurasen around 1200.

In the wider surrounding region of Rasen-Antholz lies the Resti del Castello Sant'Uberto ruin. The Chiesetta di San Giovanni in Ranui church is also located in the wider surrounding region of Rasen-Antholz. The ruin and the church are two different historic buildings.

Anyone planning the lakeside circular trail can use Antholz Lake as the starting point. For travel to this starting point, bus route 431 connects Olang-Antholz railway station with Antholz Lake. For travelling to the circular trail, Olang-Antholz railway station, bus route 431 and Antholz Lake are the three specific points.
