Susa: Roman Heritage and Historic Destinations
Accommodation in Susa
Roman Traces and Sacred Sites
The Cattedrale di San Giusto in Susa was founded in 1027. In the left corner of its façade, the Cattedrale di San Giusto incorporates one of the Roman gate towers of the Porta Savoia, also known as the Porta del Paradiso. The Porta Savoia is also called the Porta del Paradiso and is the only surviving gate of Susa’s Roman city walls. The Cattedrale di San Giusto is also accessible to visitors with reduced mobility via a ramp at the entrance. The façade brings together a sacred building and a Roman gate tower. The two names Porta Savoia and Porta del Paradiso refer to the same surviving gate.
Museum and Roman Arch
The Museo Diocesano di Arte Sacra in Susa is the central headquarters of the diocesan museum system. The Arco di Augusto in Susa is one of the four best-preserved Roman arches in Italy.
