E8 Hiking Route and Val di Bove

The E8 hiking route begins in Frontignano and leads via Monte Bove Sud and Monte Bove Nord back to Frontignano. For planning purposes, the route should be understood as starting and ending in Frontignano.

The E8 hiking route runs around Val di Bove, a glacial basin shaped by the glaciers of the Pleistocene. The basin-shaped landscape is the defining feature of Val di Bove and gives the trail a clear connection to the mountain landscape.

Mountain Setting and Winter Sports

The Frontignano360 ski resort is located in the forests of the Monti Sibillini, extends from an elevation of 1,350 to 2,000 metres above sea level, and is situated on Monte Bove. Its forest setting, elevation range and connection to the mountains define the spatial character of this ski resort.

Monte Bicco is a peak in the vicinity of Frontignano. Monte Bove Nord is a mountain in the vicinity of Frontignano. Monte Bove Sud is a peak in the vicinity of Frontignano. Monte Cardosa is also a peak in the vicinity of Frontignano.

The Apennine chamois has returned to the area of the E8 hiking route following a reintroduction project carried out by the park. The Apennine chamois is one of the rarest and most strictly protected mammals in Europe.

Frontignano360 has a snow park. A snow park is a specially designed winter sports area where sporting features have their own dedicated space.

Art and Regional Culture

The installations of the Frontignano Art Walks are located in the built-up area of Frontignano. The Eremo di San Leonardo al Volubrio is a church in the vicinity of Frontignano. This means that the local cultural connection extends from installations in the built-up area to a sacred building in the surrounding area.

The Pinacoteca Fortunato Duranti, a museum, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Frontignano. Rocca di Arquata is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Frontignano and is a castle. The museum and castle represent two different forms of regional culture and history.

The Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini is a park in the vicinity of Frontignano. Another landscape-related attraction is along Trail 272: the forest section at the level of Acqua Friddula leads to Val di Bove and offers the opportunity to enjoy the distinctive landscapes of the surrounding area there.

Enduro in the Zona Natural

There are more than 20 enduro trails in the Zona Natural. Enduro trails are routes designed for cycling in which the terrain plays an important role. The Zona Natural thus complements hiking and winter sports with an explicitly designated area for cycling.
