The mountains and streams of Marche offer opportunities for winter sports, mountaineering, snow hiking, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, hang gliding, caving and canyoning. Cycling tourism, golf, horse riding and sailing are also among the activities for which the natural environment of Marche provides space.

Winter and nature
The protected-area network of Marche comprises two national parks, four regional parks and six nature reserves. The Parco Naturale Regionale Gola della Rossa e di Frasassi covers 10,026 hectares and is the largest protected area in Marche. In the Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini, Monte Vettore reaches an elevation of 2,476 metres.
The Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini offers 17 notable routes for discovering its landscapes and natural environment. The Grande Via del Parco is a route of more than 190 kilometres along existing roads that can be travelled by car, motorcycle and motorhome.
The Parco Naturale del Monte San Bartolo features a distinctive landscape: it is characterised by a high, actively eroding cliff coast, which is rare along the entire Adriatic, and combines a sea cliff with a rural landscape on the inland side.
The Grotte di Frasassi are open to tourists all year round, except for several days in January. The caves offer speleological routes suitable for visitors.
Culture and historic sites
The historic centre of Urbino has preserved its Renaissance appearance to a remarkable extent. Urbino's Renaissance walls are almost completely intact and enclose the Ducal Palace, the cathedral, the Santa Chiara convent and historic oratories.
The Teatri Storici delle Marche include 62 historic indoor theatres built between 1600 and 1930. They continue to preserve their fundamental structural, decorative and functional characteristics.
In the surrounding area of Marche are the Pianetti Palace, the Museo "a. Colocci", the Colocci Palace, the Palazzo della Signoria and the natural arch known as Clementine Arch.

The numerous cycle paths in Marche run along the most important river valleys and cross the region from east to west. The Parco Zoo Falconara is located in the wider regional surroundings of Marche.

Culinary references
The protected designation of origin Oliva Ascolana del Piceno refers to preserved or stuffed olives of the Ascolana Tenera variety. In the administrative area of the municipality of Campofilone (Fm), egg pasta is produced that differs from other pasta through its particularly thin sheet of dough and very fine cut.
