Clockmaking culture in Pesariis
The Clockmaking Museum in Pesariis presents a chronologically arranged exhibition on the development of timekeeping. On display are 18th-century pendulum clocks, tower clocks, flap clocks and more recent examples of clocks.
The Monumental Clockmaking Route in Pesariis is an open-air museum that complements and completes the Clockmaking Museum. It comprises 24 public clocks, including the bell tower clock. The route also traces the history of time-measuring machines from sundials to the present day. In the museum, timekeeping is arranged chronologically; on the route, it is complemented by 24 public clocks and the historical period from sundials to the present day.
Casa Bruseschi and regional architectural history
Casa Bruseschi is a typical 17th- and 18th-century manor house from the Carnic region. The large rectangular building has three floors and a gabled roof. In addition to the clocks, it therefore represents a clearly defined example of regional architectural history among Pesariis’s cultural themes.
The study at Casa Bruseschi contains court records, accounting ledgers, writing materials and family portraits. These items are connected with the work of the lawyer Giovanni Battista Bruseschi. The room therefore brings professional documents and personal mementoes together. The connection to Giovanni Battista Bruseschi also assigns the documents and portraits to a specific person and his professional activity.
“Arlois e Fasois” throughout the year
The “Arlois e Fasois” market and folk festival in Pesariis celebrates local beans and the area’s clockmaking tradition. The festival takes place every year on the second weekend of September. For annual planning, this date marks a fixed event in the Pesariis calendar. In terms of content, it combines the agricultural distinction of the local beans with the craftsmanship history of timekeeping. Alongside the museum, route and manor house, a recurring festival therefore takes centre stage, explicitly bringing together both regional themes.
Mountain landscape around Osais-Pesariis
The mountain landscape around Osais-Pesariis includes the nearby Colle Chiavaz, Monte Pleros, Monte Creta Forata and Monte Forchia. The four mountain names refer to the immediate surroundings of Osais-Pesariis and complement the cultural themes with a connection to the landscape.
Other cultural and historical attractions
Ex Ricovero Militare di Val Inferna is located in the surroundings of Osais-Pesariis, a military facility with the status of a ruin. In the wider regional surroundings of Osais-Pesariis, there is also the Museo della Latteria, a museum. The two destinations broaden the cultural framework with a military ruin and a museum site. At the same time, their geographical references differ: the Ricovero belongs to the surroundings, while the Museo della Latteria belongs to the wider regional surroundings of Osais-Pesariis.
