Nature and Trails
In the vicinity of Sehmatal are the Neudorf ski lift on the Paulusberg, the fire tower, the Kalkberg, and the Katzenstein.
Geographical Location
Cranzahl railway station Cranzahl is the terminus of the Erzgebirgsbahn railway from Chemnitz and also the starting point of the Fichtelbergbahn narrow-gauge railway toward the mountain spa resort area.
The 18.8-kilometer Bimmelbahn Adventure Trail is a challenging hiking trail between Cranzahl and the spa town of Oberwiesenthal. It runs largely parallel to the Fichtelbergbahn and can be combined with a return journey by steam train.
Culture
In the vicinity are the Church of the Ascension in Cranzahl and the Church of the Redeemer in Bärenstein. In the area surrounding Sehmatal, Annaberg-Buchholz is home to the former Franciscan monastery and St. Anne's Church.
In Neudorf, the "Zum Weihrichkarzl" demonstration workshop makes traditional incense cones by hand.
