Neudorf: Culture, Forest and Trails in the Ore Mountains

A unique attraction is the Neudorf Soup Museum. It is Germany's only soup museum and gives the village an unusual cultural focus. In the Neudorf district, “Zum Weihrichkarzl” also offers visitors the chance to try something for themselves: with advance registration, visitors can make their own “Weihrichkarzle”. The dough can be enhanced with a fragrance of their choice. The experience therefore includes a practical activity whose result you design yourself.

“Zum Weihrichkarzl” also offers a short guided tour of the demonstration workshop. During the tour, you will gain a brief insight into tin pressing. Making the “Weihrichkarzle” is a practical activity requiring registration, while the tour focuses on the workshop's traditional craft methods.

Forest Area, Hiking Trails and Tours

Neudorf is surrounded by the largest contiguous forest area in the Ore Mountains, touched only by hiking trails and forest roads. The Bimmelbahn Adventure Trail is a hiking trail that runs parallel to the Fichtelberg Railway and passes through Neudorf.

Another specific option is the circular hike “To the Roof of Saxony”. It starts and ends at a car park opposite the church in Sehmatal-Neudorf. In addition, Neudorf is classified as a starting point for hiking, cycling and ski tours into the Fichtelberg and nature park area.

Travelling with the Fichtelberg Railway

On its route from Cranzahl to the spa town of Oberwiesenthal, the Fichtelberg Railway stops at Neudorf station. The Bimmelbahn Adventure Trail also runs parallel to the Fichtelberg Railway and passes through Neudorf.

Seasonal Events and Short Breaks

At 6 p.m. on Advent Saturdays, tower playing takes place in front of Neudorf Church. The traditional “Lichtlohmd” Christmas event also takes place in the Neudorf district in December. In October, the Kirmes festival takes place in the Soup Country, featuring, among other things, the election of a Soup King or Soup Queen and the competition to become the Soup Pot Pulling Champion.

In the Neudorf district, on Wiesenweg, there is a Kneipp footbath. It is suitable as a short outdoor wellness activity and can be combined with a walk.
