Culture
The Catholic parish church of St Chrysanthus and Daria is a protected cultural monument and a rural Baroque church. Notable features include a Pietà, wall and ceiling paintings from around 1920, and a basalt lava Crucifixion group dating from 1694. The church was restored from 2010 to 2011.
The coat of arms of Welcherath is based on an old court seal from 1691. It depicts the martyr couple Chrysanthus and Daria, who are regarded as the local patron saints. The village is also home to a basalt shaft cross from 1732 at Hauptstraße 8 and a basalt beam cross from 1658 at the eastern exit of the village.
The parishes associated with Welcherath commemorated a pilgrimage to Valwigerberg that has continued for centuries by erecting a pilgrim's stone. Its inauguration included a church service and a procession.
