Hörschhausen retains its village character while also being situated within the surrounding region of the geologically shaped Vulkaneifel. The village has two former water mills, which are now used as residential buildings. Hörschhausen was first mentioned in writing in the 15th century; in addition, its characteristic clustered village structure is still recognisable.

Nature

The Vulkaneifel is home to more than 77 scientifically documented maars, 12 of which are filled with water. Swimming, bathing and boating are possible at selected maars. Other maars are best explored on hiking trails, during walks along the shore or from viewing points.
