Flörsbachtal: Cultural Trails, Hiking and Cycling
Accommodation in Flörsbachtal
Flörsbachtal is located in Spessart Nature Park. Local activities offer several specific starting points for planning your stay: a cultural trail with historic stops, a 6.9-kilometre circular hike, a cycling network connected to long-distance cycle routes in the Main Valley, and Kneipp facilities that are available only during the summer months. There are also activities offered by the “Spessarträuber,” including a horse-drawn carriage and covered wagon ride on request. These options differ by theme and season; they do not form a single route or a joint programme.

Cultural Trail and Historic Traces
The “Flörsbach – Flörsbachtal 3” cultural trail starts at the fountain on Hauptstraße in Flörsbach. From there, it leads into a forest with a rich stock of oak trees. Along the way, the route passes a replica of the historic boundary stone “Dreimärker” and leads to the Judenbörnchen. Jewish cattle traders in the Spessart used the spring for their livestock. The trail thus connects a stretch of woodland with two distinct historical points of interest: the boundary stone at its former location and the spring with its traditional use.
Another cultural landmark is the church in Lohrhaupten, 50 metres from the route; it features medieval frescoes.
Hiking and Cycling
For choosing a hike, the Spessartspur “Lohrhaupter Widdehuh” stands out for its clearly specified length and circular route. It is 6.9 kilometres long and returns to Lohrhaupten. By contrast, the cultural trail offers specific points of reference: its starting point at the fountain in Flörsbach, the oak forest and the sites of cultural and historical interest. When choosing between the routes, you can consider whether your plans are better suited to a designated circular hike or a route linking named cultural sites.
For cyclists, the network connection offers a different kind of orientation: Flörsbachtal’s cycling network connects to that of the Bavarian neighbouring municipality of Frammersbach and, via this connection, to long-distance cycling routes throughout the Main Valley. The link via Frammersbach connects the local network with long-distance routes in the Main Valley.
Summer Activities and the “Spessarträuber”
There are Kneipp facilities in Flörsbach, Kempfenbrunn and Lohrhaupten; they are available only during the summer months. If these facilities are important for your travel dates, take the seasonal restriction into account when planning and check whether your stay falls within the period when they are open. The three locations also help you see where the facilities are situated within Flörsbachtal.
The “Spessarträuber” of the Lohrhaupten local history and tourism association offer a horse-drawn carriage and covered wagon ride on request, for a maximum of 15 people; it lasts up to three hours. As the ride is offered on request, planning includes making an enquiry in advance. Check whether it can be offered at your preferred time. There is also a staged robbery scene: hikers are ambushed, captured and served 36% proof schnapps. This is a separate activity and should be distinguished from the covered wagon ride.
