Neu-Anspach offers several reasons to plan your stay around culture, tours or a visit to the outdoor swimming pool in the forest. When looking for accommodation, it helps to first consider what you plan to do: Hessenpark combines village history with a family trail, while the Wild Boar Trail and the Elisabeth Trail have very different route profiles. Cyclists can also enjoy a described route that passes through Neu-Anspach. The following information gives you practical points to help plan your excursions.

Hessenpark: village history and family trail

Hessenpark is located in Neu-Anspach in the Hochtaunuskreis district. More than one hundred buildings from past centuries bring the history of village life in Hesse to life. The buildings and the museum’s theme give your visit a clear focus: discovering how people lived and worked in earlier times.

On the Family Trail, children and adults can discover together how people used to live and work. The walk offers a way to explore the open-air museum’s theme together. If you’d like to stop for a meal afterwards, you’ll find rustic inns at the market square and in the North Hesse building group, serving regional specialties. Individual businesses may change. If you specifically plan to eat there, check what’s currently on offer before your visit.

Hiking and cycling routes

The Wild Boar Trail starts at the community center in Hausen-Arnsbach, a district of Neu-Anspach. It is about 3 km long and suitable for strollers. The hike leads through woodland, fields and open countryside; information boards and interactive stations are part of the route. Its length, stroller suitability and stations are useful points to consider when choosing a specific tour.

The Elisabeth Trail has a very different route profile: this 53.87 km pilgrimage and hiking trail passes through Neu-Anspach and is rated difficult. The stated lengths and difficulty ratings help distinguish this tour from the approximately 3 km Wild Boar Trail. This makes it easier to assess which route suits your plans without treating the two trails as equivalent.

The Usa or Usatal Cycle Route also passes through Neu-Anspach. It runs from Schmitten-Brombach via Usingen and Neu-Anspach towards the Wetterau region. Its good transport links and central location in the Hintertaunus make Neu-Anspach a starting and finishing point for hiking and cycling tours. As individual routes and access conditions can change, check them before setting out on a specific tour.

Outdoor swimming pool on the edge of the forest

The outdoor swimming pool is located on the edge of the forest, surrounded by nature, and offers a relaxing break from everyday noise. The listed facilities include a separate toddler pool. If this pool is important for your visit, check its current status in advance: facilities may change following renovations. This makes the outdoor pool a distinct excursion option alongside the trails and Hessenpark’s cultural attractions.

Getting around the Hochtaunus

For visits to Hessenpark, bus route 63 connects Wehrheim or Neu-Anspach/Anspach station with the Neu-Anspach/Anspach Hessenpark stop. Check the current timetable before travelling. There are also six charging stations for e-bikes directly at the open-air museum. Visitors can carry out minor repairs and maintenance themselves at a bicycle service station. These facilities are at Hessenpark; as visitor services may change, it’s a good idea to check what’s currently available before your visit.

Neu-Anspach therefore offers a range of specific reasons to visit: historic village buildings and a family trail at Hessenpark, two hiking trails with significantly different stated lengths and difficulty ratings, a cycling route through the town, and the outdoor swimming pool.
