Geographical Location
The Hochtaunuskreis tourism brochure presents visitor attractions in 13 municipalities. The Heidenstock small fort is located in the immediate vicinity of Hochtaunus. The surrounding area also includes Kronberg Schloss Friedrichshof, Feldberg Fort, Opel Zoo, Kapersburg Fort, Großer Eichwald and Weilsberg.
Nature
The region comprises gentle hills, dense forests, low mountain ranges, coniferous and deciduous forests, as well as orchards. Large parts of it belong to the Taunus Nature Park.
Großer Feldberg is located in the surrounding area of Hochtaunus; when hiking, the aforementioned gentle hills and dense forests combine with this natural feature as well as with Eschbach Cliffs and Maibach Switzerland.
Culture
The Roman heritage is an important cultural element in Hochtaunus: Saalburg Roman Fort is located directly on the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Limes and presents Roman history, culture and way of life.
Some hiking trails in Hochtaunus incorporate the Roman Limes heritage and ancient Celtic settlements.
