Forest trails with different focuses
The waldGLASweg is an art trail in the Glashütten forest. Seven glass installations are located along its 1.5-kilometer route. These installations give the trail a clear focus on art and distinguish it from the nature discovery trail, which centers on nature themes and physical activities.
The nature discovery trail is an approximately 3.3-kilometer circular route between Glashütten and Schloßborn, with a main starting point in Glashütten. Information boards cover local flora and fauna. Other stations offer sensory, fitness, and yoga exercises. Compared with the 1.5-kilometer waldGLASweg, the circular route is longer and combines information about nature with various activity and sensory stations.
The certified Limes Discovery Trail also passes through the municipality. At the exit from Glashütten, the information portal marks the gateway to the Königsetappe; the stage itself runs through the municipality. This Limes trail therefore differs in both theme and route from the two forest trails. Anyone interested in Roman border history will find another way to plan their stay here.
Fort, Kiln Site, and LIMES Tower
Remains of Maisel Fort, a small fort used to monitor crossings of the Limes, lie within the municipality. Another archaeological feature is the kiln site “An der Emsbachschlucht.” It was preserved because of its excellent condition and is unique of its kind nationwide.
The LIMES Tower on Kröfteler Weg is near Maisel Fort. It was inaugurated on August 30, 2025; the municipality announced its public opening in September 2025. From the 12-meter-high tower platform, hikers and walkers can look out into the distance. The information about the tower adds a viewpoint to the archaeological sites; it is not one of the forest trails.
More activities in the municipality
The facilities in the municipality include the Glashütten-Schloßborn outdoor swimming pool. It has a heated main pool with swimming and non-swimming areas, as well as a separate children’s paddling pool. This swimming pool, with its different pool areas, provides a separate option for planning your stay alongside the trails and cultural attractions.
