Ski Lift and Natural Ice Rink
The Jachenau ski lift is about 450 m long and has two runs and a hut. The lift’s operating availability may vary by season. If you’re planning a visit, check whether it is operating before you travel. The natural ice rink was completed in 1987 and invites visitors to go ice skating, play ice hockey and play Bavarian curling. Rotwand Circuit and Jachenau Blossom Walk
The Rotwand Circuit starts in the hamlet of Höfen and follows a partly steep ravine trail through mountain forest to the open area of Grabenalm. From there, it continues to a balcony-like viewpoint on the steep northwest flank of Rotwand. The view extends across the Jachental valley and north to the mountain range from Jochberg via Benediktenwand to Brauneck. Take the partly steep ravine trail into account when choosing your route.
The Jachenau Blossom Walk offers a different focus: it passes the Baroque Church of St. Nicholas, which stands on a small hill. The two described routes therefore differ both in their scenery and their destination: the Rotwand Circuit centers on mountain forest, Grabenalm and the viewpoint, while the Blossom Walk passes a named landmark.
Two Cycling Routes with Different Distances
The approximately 40 km cycling route around Lake Walchen runs entirely on paved roads and is family-friendly. It starts at the SchĂĽtzenhaus in the center of Jachenau, below the church. Check current traffic restrictions before setting off.
Another cycling route, about 70 km long, leads from Jachenau along the southern shore of Lake Walchen in the direction of Wallgau. You can choose between two routes described in different ways: the loop around Lake Walchen is shorter and is characterized by its continuous paved road and family-friendly nature. The longer route is defined by its course along the southern shore and its direction toward Wallgau.
