History
Nabburg’s historic town hall dates back to 1417 and preserves later Renaissance additions. These include a tower, a portal, a staircase, and a loggia.
Wernberg Castle is located near Nabburg. The wider surrounding region also contains the “Hinter der Mauer 17” tower, the Doggenhansl Tower, and the “Hinter der Mauer 19A” tower.
Nature
Nabburg’s old town is situated high above the Naab. Its defensive walls enclose densely packed houses and rooftops.
Kulm is located in the area surrounding Nabburg. The Galgenberg and Keilhauer Berg are nearby. The wider surrounding region also includes the Geberberg.
Trails and Water
The Zwinger Circular Trail runs along the old town and repeatedly offers views of striking buildings in Nabburg’s historic town center.
Further afield, the Upper Palatinate Open-Air Museum presents rural and agricultural life from earlier times. The museum comprises 50 reconstructed buildings and an approximately two-hour tour through several regional village settings.
The second stage of a canoe tour on the Naab begins in Nabburg. There, the river is considered a gentle touring river rather than whitewater.
