Ruhmannsfelden can be explored through a range of interests: the natural swimming lake on the western edge of town, the protected Ruhmannsfeldener Leite on the southern edge, and local cultural and summer activities. During the summer months, guided themed hikes take place weekly around the town. When planning your stay, it helps to consider swimming, the landscape and seasonal activities as separate highlights.

Natural Swimming Lake and Pool Areas

Ruhmannsfelden’s natural swimming lake measures over 50 m × 30 m. It is supplied with drinking water and offers chlorinated-free swimming with controlled water quality. The lake includes swimming, non-swimmer and toddler pools. Both the size of the lake and its different pool areas provide specific points of reference when planning a day of swimming. Information about the water supply and water quality adds to the description of the swimming facilities.

The Ruhmannsfeldener Leite

The Ruhmannsfeldener Leite, also called Leithe, follows the course of the Teisnach Gorge south of Osterbrünnl and heads northeast. It lies on the southern edge of town, parallel to the railway line, and has been a protected landscape since around 1967. Leite and Leithe refer to the same landscape area. The Leite is a distinct natural point of interest alongside the swimming lake: here, the gorge’s course, its location on the edge of town and its protected status are the main features.

Church, Chapel and Seasonal Activities

The Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius in Ruhmannsfelden has a rich interior. The pilgrimage chapel of Osterbrünnl is located near the town and has a Way of the Cross. The church and chapel are two separate destinations, with Osterbrünnl being a nearby attraction. Local festivals in Ruhmannsfelden include a citizens’ festival and garden festivals. If you would like to include one in your travel plans, check the dates for your travel period.

During the summer months, hiking guides offer weekly guided themed hikes around Ruhmannsfelden. The themed hikes are a seasonal activity, unlike permanent features of the town such as the Leite’s protected status. If you would like to include a guided hike in your stay, check availability before travelling.

Winter Activities in the Wider Destination of Regen

The wider destination of Regen is a separate point of reference for winter activities. There are 13 terrain therapy trails in and around the town of Regen. The GrubhĂĽgel cross-country ski trail in Regen can be used for both skating and classic diagonal-stride techniques. Skates and equipment can be rented on site at the Regen ice sports centre. The wider destination therefore offers different kinds of winter activities: cross-country skiing, ice sports and terrain therapy trails. These activities are associated with Regen, not Ruhmannsfelden.

Other excursions are also located in Regen: the Beer Experience Hike is about 5 km long; almost half of the route runs directly alongside the Regen River. During public tours, the beer and ice cellars are regularly presented as the historic “Regener Underworld,” and their history is explained. When planning your stay, you can distinguish Ruhmannsfelden’s local highlights from other options in the wider destination of Regen.
