Flower Festival and Parade

The Flower Festival takes place every year. The traditional parade starts at the Old Festival Grounds in the Pegnitz valley and ends after a circular route through Röthenbach at Hubert-Munkert-Platz. A selection of the festival floats is then displayed there. This lets you combine your festival visit with a specific part of the town. As parade routes may change from one edition to the next, check the current date and route before your visit.

Conradty Workers’ Settlement and Town Museum

The Conradty workers’ settlement was built between 1892 and 1914. Significant parts have been preserved; as a cohesive ensemble, it is considered an important monument to industrial history. The Upper Conradty Settlement includes, among other buildings, a three-storey apartment building with decorative half-timbering. The ensemble offers a glimpse into the architectural history of Röthenbach as an industrial and working-class town.

Another place to learn about the town’s history is the Conradtyhaus Town Museum at Mühlgasse 1. It is open on Sundays and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on Christmas holidays, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. If your visit falls on a public holiday, check the opening hours in advance. This allows you to plan your museum visit as part of your day.

Historic Town Walk and Buildings

The Historic Town Walk takes in eleven notable locations in Röthenbach and traces its development from a small mill settlement to an industrial and working-class town. You can choose your own starting and finishing points, for example at the railway station, Rathausplatz or in the town centre. Navigation guides you to each next stop. The flexible start and end points make it easy to adapt the walk to your day’s schedule.

Local landmarks also include the Catholic Church of St. Boniface, with a Steinmeyer organ, a round-arched window by Nuremberg glass painter Alfons Abel and a 35-metre-high tower. The Moritzberg and Surroundings Beautification Association’s observation tower has stood on Moritzberg since 1911. Beside the summit is a 15th-century chapel dedicated to Saint Mauritius. These details offer different points of interest: church architecture, the history of an association and a historic building near the summit.

Cycle Routes and the Wider Region

The cycle routes described here differ in their named waypoints. Cycle Route I runs from Seespitzschule via the state forest to the motorway bridge and on to the district of Renzenhof. Cycle Route II heads from Röthenbach towards Schwaig via the industrial estate, Diepersdorf and Renzenhof, then returns to Röthenbach over the motorway bridge. Cycle Route III starts in the Seespitze district, passes under the railway bridge along the state forest and reaches the motorway bridge near Himmelgarten. The respective destinations are particularly useful when comparing the routes; for Cycle Route II, the return to Röthenbach is also explicitly part of the route.

Across the wider Nürnberger Land travel region, more than 3,000 kilometres of well-marked hiking trails and well-developed cycle paths of varying difficulty run through the area. This regional context adds further opportunities for hiking and cycling to the local routes described here, without equating routes in the Nürnberger Land with individual routes in Röthenbach.

Röthenbach is served by S-Bahn line S1 on the Nuremberg–Lauf route. The journey from Nuremberg Central Station takes about 17 minutes.
