Schnabelwaid is a market town in the Bayreuth district of Upper Franconia. The municipality is predominantly forested; the Weihergraben stream flows through it from north to south.

Nature

The Craimoosweiher pond lies east of the district of Craimoos. The area is a protected natural habitat and an important habitat for endangered birds, insects and plants. A birdwatching tower was built on the shore of the Craimoosweiher in 2014.

Schnabelwaid is located between Pegnitz and Bayreuth on federal roads B2 and B85. There is also a direct road connection to exit 43, Trockau, on the A9 motorway.
