Nature
The hamlet of Picolard lies at 1,250 m on the slope terrace of Versant du Soleil. From there, the view extends over the ski resorts of Les Arcs, Montchavin-les-Coches, La Plagne and La Rosière, as well as the Col de la Madeleine and Mont Pourri.
Culture
The Eglise Saint-Martin was built between 1681 and 1686. It has a neoclassical altarpiece featuring a painting of Saint Martin; a bas-relief of the Last Supper is attached to the altar mensa. Guided tours are available for individuals and groups.
The interior paintings of the Chapelle-Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel have been restored. The Ferme de Villarivon is partially protected as a historic monument. Its monumental façade has two rows of false windows and Italianate decoration associated with the style popular in Turin around 1850. From the 18th century onwards, a family of local notables began transforming the Ferme de Villarivon through its architectural design as an expression of their social success.
Trails
The St Antoine's Chapel in the hamlet of Picolard dates from 1702 and contains a Baroque altarpiece with typical iconography. It lies along the “Chemins du Baroque” sightseeing route.
The “Les Hameaux du Soleil” route is marked with blue signs. Shortly after the village of Bellentre, it follows a greenway leading to Aime.
Art
Art Espace Chevrière is an art gallery in the hamlet of Chevrière in Les Chapelles, above the Tarentaise Valley with a view of the Vanoise massif. The gallery opened in 2017 and displays works by the sculptor and painter Bruno Barbieri, the sculptor Yannick Chirat and the photographer Pierre Bottex.
