Nature

Les Deux Alpes is home to a natural heritage comprising several dozen protected plant and animal species. From the Croix du Sert, the 360-degree panoramic view extends across the Romanche Valley, Lac du Chambon and the surrounding mountains. The passerelle du Belvédère des Écrins offers views of the Écrins Massif, the Aiguilles d'Arves and Mont Blanc.

History and Culture

Les Deux Alpes originally developed as a shared alpine pasture between Mont-de-Lans and Venosc. In the 1930s, the first hotels and chalets for winter sports were built there.

The Chasal Lento Museum covers Roman history, travelling vendors, the construction of the Chambon Dam and the pioneering years of Les Deux Alpes. It is located in the heart of Mont de Lans and uses history to convey the way of life of local residents. The museum includes a café area where visitors can sample sweets, as well as a terrace, a library, games and activities for children.

The Porte romaine de Bons is a visible ancient relic located approximately a 30-minute walk from the village of Mont de Lans. The village of Mont de Lans can be reached from Les Deux Alpes by the Mont de Lans chairlift or by a free shuttle.

Other Experiences

La Balade des Explorateurs is an easy, 1.8 km family walk focusing on mountain animals. The route is marked and equipped with information panels that pose questions about mountain animals.

The Grotte de Glace in Les Deux Alpes is a 200 m long tunnel at an altitude of 3,400 m. Sculptures are displayed there beneath 30 m of old ice. Oxygen Experience – Balcons des Cimes is a circular route at an altitude of 3,100 to 3,200 m, connected to Destination 3400 by the funicular railway. From there, views extend across the mountain ranges of Oisans, including Grandes Rousses, Belledonne, Taillefer and Écrins.

Rando'Nature et Patrimoine is a guided hike on the Mont-de-Lans slope, exploring the local fauna, flora and the history of the village. Oxygen Experience – Défi des Fayots is a family-friendly adventure trail with wooden games, located at an altitude of 2,100 m in the Vallée Blanche area.

The Randonnée Balade du Cristallier uses information panels about the local fauna and flora as well as the ski resort. It is a themed family hike around Lac du Plan, located at an altitude of 2,300 m, focusing on quartz crystals.
