History

The Église Santa-Maria-in-Albis was classified as a historic monument in 1978. It was completed around 1700 on the site of a medieval church that had been severely damaged in the first half of the 17th century.

On the eastern slope within the former fortification walls, there are still terraced olive groves, as well as the Chapelle Saint-Antoine and the medieval Porte de Gènes. Preserved remains of the town wall run along the Roya and extend to this gate east of the village.

The remains of the castle and the Tour de la Cruella tower are located on the rocky ridge above Breil-sur-Roya.

A Stacada is a folkloric event held every four years, featuring a historical reenactment of a popular uprising in costume; since 1960, it has been celebrated on the third Sunday in July.
