Ledeč Castle is an important landmark in the Havlíčkův Brod region. It stands above the Sázava River on a limestone promontory. The castle houses the Municipal Museum, with exhibitions on the history of the town and local crafts. The collection presents local craft traditions such as pottery, glassmaking, weaving and dyeing; there is also a permanent exhibition of historical clocks. Landscape and Location

The Havlíčkův Brod region is one of five destination areas of Vysočina Tourism. The landscape comprises wooded hills and rocky, romantic valleys where the Železné Mountains meet the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. At 709 metres, Melechov is the highest point in the Havlíčkův Brod region. More than 80 vertebrate species are found in the Údolí Doubravy Nature Reserve.

Castles and History

Lipnice Castle was founded around 1310 and is open to visitors. It has extensive cellars containing the former banqueting hall of Jindřich z Lipé, as well as an archaeological exhibition. Lipnice nad Sázavou Castle is associated with the writer Jaroslav Hašek. Near his grave stands the Lipnický Poesiomat, which presents material about Hašek and Wolker, as well as castle legends.

Crafts and Heritage Conservation

Huť Jakub Tasice began operating in 1796 and preserves an exceptionally well-preserved open-air museum dedicated to glassmaking. The complex has been a national cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 2014.
