Vlksice is located in the Toulava tourist region on the border between South Bohemia and Central Bohemia.
Landscape and Nature
Vlksice lies in a valley between the Smutná stream and the Dobřemilický stream. The Jistebnická vrchovina Nature Park is one of the significant natural assets of the Vlksice area and is a protected area. In the Vlksice area, it protects a varied hilly landscape with fields, meadows, and small wooded areas.
History and Culture
Near House No. 1, an earthwork embankment with a mound that is still visible today probably marks the site of a fortified feudal residence that already existed at the beginning of the 14th century. Remains of Renaissance sgraffito are visible on Vlksice Fortress and the adjacent courtyard wall. The fortress also retains a black kitchen whose chimney is unique in Central Europe due to its size.
The Neo-Romanesque chapel on the village square in Vlksice dates from 1900 and has a small choir loft. Its façade bears a memorial plaque commemorating the victims of the First World War.
Vlksice Fortress is not freely open to the public. Visits can be arranged by prior agreement with the owner, who guides visitors through the fortress in historical costume. Recurring open-air performances by Divadlo Kašpar also take place at the fortress.
Dolejšà Pond
Sport fishing is offered at Dolejšà Pond. There are three fishing platforms, each of which can accommodate a maximum of two anglers.
Transport
Vlksice has a bus stop. Public bus services from Vlksice towards Milevsko, Nadějkov, and Chyšky are adequately provided.
