The filial church of Saint James the Elder in DolnĂ Moravice dates from 1795; its presbytery dates from the Renaissance period, and its tower dates from 1593.

History and townscape

The history of DolnĂ Moravice is mentioned as early as 1258. In the centre stands a Baroque sandstone column depicting the Holy Trinity from 1752, which is considered a particularly independent work in terms of iconography and typology in the region. At the southern edge of DolnĂ Moravice, a Baroque sandstone statue of the Immaculata stands on a tall column. It has not been attributed to any artist and is dated 1764.

A stone road bridge with two arches crosses the Moravice in DolnĂ Moravice. Its sharply ascending roadway is characteristic of bridges of the so-called Swedish type.

Landscape and surroundings

Dolní Moravice is part of the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area. The Nová Ves lookout tower is 31.3 metres high and was built in 2014; it offers three views of the Hrubý Jeseník ridge.

The mine workings in the Nová Ves mining district are not accessible. Only extensive spoil heaps of extracted material can be viewed; today, they are heavily overgrown with forest.
