Culture and history
The Huť Marie 1904 – Café Bar is located at Dolní Maxov 113, 468 44. The reconstructed Maxov glassworks, Huť Marie 1904, is offered as a special experience.
The settlement of Dolní Maxov was founded in 1700. A chapel and the first glassworks were later built in Dolní Maxov and Karlov. The Forest Chapel (Lesní kaple) is being restored on the boundary between Dolní Maxov and Karlov.
The glassworks in Josefův Důl–Dolní Maxov is still standing, but is falling into disrepair. Every year, the municipality of Josefův Důl hosts the “Josefodolské divadelní jaro” festival featuring rural theatre ensembles.
Nature
In the immediate vicinity, the Jedlový důl educational trail leads through the local flora and fauna and to rock formations and waterfalls, with nine stops along the way.
The short version of the Gustav Leutelt educational trail is 5.4 km long and has five stops with information panels. The final stop on this educational trail is located at the local primary school in Dolní Maxov.
