Neudek: Hotels and Accommodation

The “Vysoká Štola – Oldřichov” educational trail begins behind Nejdek’s winter sports stadium. It passes through Pozorka, Vysoká Štola and Oldřichov, returning to Nejdek through the Oldřichov Valley. More than 9 kilometres long, the same educational trail includes nine stations covering history, geology, mining, old routes and the character of the landscape.

Parking for cars is available for the educational trail in the car parks by the football stadium and the winter sports stadium.

Trails

The “In the Footsteps of Famous Personalities from Nejdek” educational trail is a 2.6 km-long, red-marked local circular route through Nejdek’s town centre. It leads to memorial stones, plaques on birth houses and other places associated with personalities from Nejdek. These include the birthplace of actor Vladimír Ráž, a viewpoint overlooking Nejdek and the place from which J. W. Goethe drew Nejdek Tower.

The 5 km-long “Děti dětem” educational trail is located in the southern part of Nejdek. At eight stations, it introduces the plants, animals, rocks and population of the Nejdek region.

The 5.4 km-long “Křížovým vrchem” circular route begins directly in Nejdek. The 10.2 km-long hiking excursion “Across Nejdecký Špičák to Lesík” leads from Nejdek via Nejdecký Špičák to Lesík; swimming is possible in the Lesík reservoir along the way.

The “Nejdecká křížová cesta” Stations of the Cross is 1,600 metres long, climbs a difference in elevation of 110 metres and includes 14 stone chapels as stations. It offers views of Nejdek’s historic district and the deep valley of the Rolava.

Landscape

The “Rozhledna Pajndl” observation tower is accessible year-round. From Nejdek, it can be reached on foot in about two hours via the green-marked hiking trail.

The “Krušnohorský Semmering” railway line runs from Nejdek via Nové Hamry to Pernink. Over 15 km, it overcomes a difference in elevation of 360 metres with the help of three tunnels and the Nové Hamry loop.

Culture

The “Evangelický kostel Vykupitele” church in Nejdek was completed in 1904 in the Neo-Gothic style. The church grounds, including the Art Nouveau vicarage, have been a protected cultural monument since 2007.

The “Hradní věž” can be opened to the public by prior arrangement with its owner, the dean of St. Martin’s Church.

The pseudo-Gothic “Kaple v Suché” chapel was built in 1885 near a farmstead on the raised bank of a rural pond. The “Kašna Rolávka” fountain represents the Rolava River, which is paved with light-coloured river gravel in its original riverbed.

Notes

The Nejdek Museum is closed due to the reconstruction of the building and preparations for a new permanent exhibition.
