Bells, church and historic village centre

The “Glockenwelt” exhibition is housed in the BIATRON at the car park of the Waidring/Steinplatte cable cars and serves as the starting point for the Bell Experience Trail. The trail is an approximately one-hour tour and ends in the historic centre of Waidring. At its various stations, it explains the history of bell casting, the special features of the Waidring bell foundries and local anecdotes. The historic bell founder’s house along the trail is associated with the casting of the first Lugmair bell. The present-day parish church of Waidring stands in the village centre. It was built in 1757 by Kassian Singer and Andrä Hueber and consecrated by the Bishop of Chiemsee on 15 August 1764. The frescoes in the late Baroque church interior were largely created in 1761 by Johann Perwanger and Matthias Mader. The cemetery completely surrounds the parish church; traditionally, it contains only wrought-iron crosses.
