For a ski holiday in Veitsch, Brunnalm – Hohe Veitsch offers winter sports above the Mürz Valley. The operator describes the area as having 18 pistes and more than twelve kilometres of downhill runs in total. The Pilgrimage Cross and valley cycle path help you get your bearings in the area during a stay that goes beyond skiing alone.

Brunnalm – Hohe Veitsch in winter

At Gamsmugl, there is a magic carpet for beginners. The pistes include blue and red runs, as well as several black runs and a FIS run. Choose an area suited to your ability; the presence of beginner facilities does not mean that the entire ski area is suitable for beginners.

A four-seat chairlift and drag lifts provide access to the area. Check the current lift and piste status for your dates. Snowmaking does not guarantee that all runs will be skiable on every winter day.

For ski tourers, the operator names Gasthof Scheikl as a starting point for routes to Hohe Veitsch and Graf-Meran-Haus. There is also a winter hiking trail in the mountain area. Plan your tour according to current conditions and access permissions; the hike to Rotsohlalm described below is not automatically an approved winter route.

The Pilgrimage Cross and the valley cycle path

The Veitsch Pilgrimage Cross on Ölberg stands just behind the parish church. The Veitschtal cycle path R48 runs from the Mitterdorf district into the Veitsch Valley, past Pichl Castle and through Groß Veitsch to the car park by the magnesite works. This valley route is a different starting point for planning than the ski area at Brunnalm.

Hiking in the warmer months

Nearby, the hike to Rotsohlalm starts at Brunnalm. It follows forest roads and marked trails, first to Schalleralm and then on to Rotsohlalm. Check current trail conditions before planning this hike.

If you are looking for accommodation for your ski holiday in Veitsch, compare the exact address with the cable car you plan to use or the agreed tour meeting point. An overnight stay in the valley does not mean direct access to the pistes.
