At the junction with the Christtagsfreude Trail, the route branches off towards Assantberg and leads back to the town centre via Lange Illach. The route clearly illustrates the difference between a short stay in the floodplain area and a longer circuit through several landscape areas.

Seasonal and Cultural Destinations

The market town of Langenwang organises the Christtagsfreude Hike every December. This established event format supplements the trails described as available year-round with a winter date. St Andrew’s Church is the oldest building in Langenwang. The parish church of St Andrew underwent extensive reconstruction and expansion from 1493 to 1496 and houses a Gothic winged altarpiece from 1509. The Hohenwang castle ruins provide a distinctly different historical accent. They are located on a steep rocky mountain that drops almost vertically to the southwest, about 100 m above the village of Langenwang. Langenwang has its own railway station with a direct connection to the S6, which is also suitable for leisure travel.
