For winter days in Piesendorf, cross-country skiing and winter hiking are different activities to consider. There are around 15 km of cross-country trails for both classic technique and skating. The FĂĽrther Runde is an approximately 8 km top tour for winter hiking. This means you can think of the trail network as an option for two techniques, and the individual hiking route as a separate possibility.

Cross-country skiing and winter hiking

Classic technique and skating are different skiing techniques; the approximately 15 km of cross-country trails accommodate both. The distance is approximate, and trail grooming and seasonal availability may vary. If you are planning to cross-country ski, check the conditions for your chosen period in advance.

The FĂĽrther Runde is a single tour. It is about 8 km long; conditions on the winter route may also vary depending on the season. Find out about the current situation before setting off. The trail distance and the length of this winter hike are different points of reference for different activities.

Hiking trails and orientation

Since August 2025, the Spielend-wandern-Weg has connected the two hiking villages of Niedernsill and Piesendorf. It is mostly flat and easy to walk. Unlike the FĂĽrther Runde, the focus here is on the connection between the hiking villages and the trail profile; for the FĂĽrther Runde, the approximate distance and winter hiking context are the specific points of reference.

In Piesendorf, varied hikes for families, leisure hikers and active mountain lovers begin just a few steps from the centrally located bus and train stops. For families, this is a practical point of reference when planning a day and considering stops and hikes together. The Hinkelsteinbad is right next to the Piesendorf-Bad stop on the Pinzgau railway.

The circular trail starts at the hiking information point and passes the Hinkelsteinbad on its way towards Hummersdorf and the first art station, “Schlangenbaum”. The Hinkelsteinbad is therefore a named point of reference both at the Piesendorf-Bad stop and along the circular trail described here. For orientation, note the hiking information point as the starting point and “Schlangenbaum” as the first art station.

Culture and local history

The Michaelskapelle is the former sacristy of the Piesendorf parish church. Late Gothic wall paintings were discovered there during restoration work. The chapel thus brings together its former religious function and an art-historical detail.

In FĂĽrth, a locality in Piesendorf, a village in the Chinese architectural style was built from around 1867 near the parental home. Its design includes delicate turrets, countless steps and much more. This historical point of interest differs from the Michaelskapelle: in FĂĽrth, the focus is on the architectural style, while at the chapel it is on its former function as a sacristy and the late Gothic wall paintings. If you want to include history and architecture in your travel plans as well as trails, these places offer two different themes.
