Ordino: Slopes, Ski Touring and Nature Trails
Accommodation in Ordino Parish
There are also signposted ski touring circuits and interpretive trails in Sorteny Nature Park. This lets you make slopes, tours and nature experiences different focal points of your trip.
Slopes and Ski Touring in Ordino
The slopes range from beginner to expert level, giving groups with different skiing abilities a clear point of comparison. Resort offerings can change from season to season, so check current operating information before travelling. The ski area also has five signposted ski touring circuits totalling eleven kilometres. The eleven kilometres refers to the five circuits combined. Check the resort’s current rules and conditions before setting out on a tour. For planning, different figures are therefore relevant: ability levels for the slopes, and the number and combined length of the circuits for ski touring.
Trails in Sorteny Nature Park
In Sorteny Nature Park, two self-guided trails can be compared by length, number of stops and route. The Camà de la marta is 500 metres long and leads from the park’s information hut to the botanical garden, with ten interpretive stops along the way. Check local conditions before you travel. The Camà del Grau de la Llosa is 400 metres long; its ten interpretive stops follow the Sorteny River from the forest road to the botanical garden. Both trails therefore have ten stops each and the same endpoint; they differ by 100 metres in length, as well as in their starting points and routes.
The linear Ruta del ferro adds a different distance to these short routes: it starts in Llorts, in Ordino Parish, and is about 4.2 kilometres long. Its approximate length and explicitly stated starting point set it apart from the two shorter trails in Sorteny Nature Park.
Legends and the Parish Festival
Bosc Viu offers a themed walk in the forest of l’Esquella d’Ordino: with trees decorated around a theme, the walk introduces children aged three and over to the legend of the Tió de Nadal. Unlike the stops in Sorteny, the focus here is on the legend. Sant Pere is a local festival date: on the evening of 28 June, Ordino celebrates the start of summer and its parish festival by lighting Falles and burning the Mai de Sant Pere. The parish festival is an annual tradition. If you want to plan your trip around the festival evening, check the event date for that year.
A broader cultural context belongs specifically to Andorra: Estripagecs are iron structures that once protected house windows from thieves and, over time, developed into a cultural symbol and a marker of the country’s identity.
