For planning your trip, Ansalonga offers specific trail and cultural experiences; the Ordino ArcalĂs ski area is a separate offering within the wider Ordino travel region. If you are looking for accommodation in Ansalonga, you can consider these different travel interests separately: a guided route passes through the village, a technically demanding descent ends there, while information about the Ordino ArcalĂs ski area concerns its offerings in the Ordino travel region.

Trails with different profiles

The guided Ruta de la pedra seca is almost six kilometres long and runs from La Cortinada via Ansalonga to SornĂ s. Ansalonga is therefore part of the route. As this is a guided route, check booking availability before your trip.

The Coll-de-Cases trail has a different profile: its fast, technically demanding descent leads to Ansalonga. Caution is advised because of the roots and steep gradient. The distinction is important for planning: here, a guided route of almost six kilometres is presented alongside a challenging descent with explicitly mentioned terrain features. Choose according to the type of trail you want to take.

Culture and history in Ansalonga and Ordino

The Monòlit de Sant Cristòfol was erected in a meadow in the Ansalonga area, on the main road shortly before La Cortinada. If you want to visit the Monòlit specifically, check its current status beforehand.

The history of communal millstones also connects Ansalonga with La Cortinada. In the parish of Ordino, there were millstones that were used communally; the Quarts supervised their proper functioning. This historical practice concerns the parish and both places mentioned. It provides a cultural context for a trip that differs from a visit to the Monòlit.

Skiing in the wider Ordino travel region

Ordino ArcalĂs has more than 30 kilometres of skiable terrain, with runs for all ability levels, from beginner to expert. There are also five marked ski touring circuits there, totalling 11 kilometres within the ski area. For clarity, these are two different aspects: the figure of more than 30 kilometres refers to the skiable terrain and the ability levels mentioned; the 11 kilometres describes the total length of the marked ski touring circuits. Ordino ArcalĂs is in the wider Ordino travel region, not in Ansalonga. Check the current rules and conditions of the ski area before using it.

More trails and experiences in Ordino

The wider Ordino travel region is also home to two self-guided trails in Sorteny Nature Park. The Camí de la marta is 500 metres long and has ten interpretive stops, running from the park’s information hut to the botanical garden. The Camí del Grau de la Llosa is 400 metres long; its ten stops follow the Sorteny River from the forest road to the botanical garden. Both trails therefore end at the botanical garden. Their lengths and starting points differ; check local conditions before setting out.

In the forest of l’Esquella d’Ordino, the Bosc Viu walk introduces children aged three and over to the legend of the Tió de Nadal through trees with themed designs. This is another example of an offering in the wider Ordino travel region. It complements the trail descriptions in Sorteny with a walk centred on a specifically named legend.

Annual celebration and practical information

On the evening of 28 June, Ordino celebrates the start of summer and its parish festival, Sant Pere. The festivities include lighting the Falles and burning the Mai de Sant Pere. This annual festival takes place in Ordino and is therefore a separate event in the wider travel region, not a celebration in Ansalonga.

For questions about the travel region, the Ordino tourist information office is located in Casa de la Muntanya, C/ Major 20. You can reach it by phone at +376 878 173 or by email at ot@ordino.ad. Contact and office details may change, so check them before visiting.
