Ski holidays and the World Ski Championships in Schladming

With 9 ski mountains, the Schladming-Ramsau-Dachstein ski paradise is one of Austria’s largest ski areas. Its 167 kilometres of slopes offer plenty of family-friendly runs, for example at the Höfi-Express and Stoderzinken. The wonderfully wide slopes of Fageralm are also well suited to families and beginners. But expert skiers will find plenty to enjoy here, too. The World Cup piste is ideal terrain for sporting ambition. Its gold quality seal speaks for itself. And the children’s area has plenty of surprises for little skiers taking their first turns on the snow.

Schladming-Rohrmoos is also a cross-country skiing paradise. Cross-country skiers can look forward to around 60 kilometres of trails. The large Ramsau cross-country skiing area is very close by.

An appealing après-ski scene is, of course, a must on a ski holiday. Around 40 mountain huts promise plenty of fun, as well as many culinary delights.

Summer in the Schladming ski area also promises wonderful holiday experiences. Discover the beautiful countryside on more than 500 km of hiking trails, whether hiking, running, Nordic walking or biking. One example is the new “Wilde Wasser” themed trail. It leads through beautiful alpine meadows to the 140 m-high Riesach Waterfall. An experience for young and old alike.

Mountain bikers have also discovered the spectacular trails. Around 200 km of routes in Schladming-Rohrmoos are signposted. The approximately 60 km-long Enns Valley Trail is suitable for families.

Schladming has another sensation in store, too: the Alpine Ski World Championships will take place there in 2013. Excitement is running high, and Schladming has big plans: new lifts, a multifunctional sports arena with a car park, and more hotels. Schladming also aims to host a World Championships where everything is close at hand. Key locations should be accessible in an environmentally friendly way—even on foot.
