Two ski resorts in Austria Alpbach and Wildschönau will be merged into a single ski area, which will be named Ski Jewel. The slopes of the two resorts will be united thanks to the new eight-place gondola, which is planned to be installed this summer.
Construction of a new lift between the Alpbach and Wildschönau will be held as part of the investment project on creating unified infrastructure for winter holidays. The total project cost is estimated at 13.5 million Euros.
Works on construction a new branch began at the resorts in June 2012. Opening of the new gondola will allow both resorts to double the number of slopes available for skiing. The total length of Ski Jewel tracks will be 145 kilometers. They will be served by 47 lifts.
Thanks to the new gondola skiers will be able to move between the tracks without removing of the equipment. If earlier tourists had to use buses to get from Alpbach to Wildschönau, now transfer between the resorts will be much easier and more convenient.
The decision to build the lift between Alpbach and Wildschönau wasn’t easy. It took 11 years of negotiations between the local authorities to make the final decision on establishing a single mountain area.
Alpbach and Wildschönau are resorts in Austria, which have earned the reputation of an ideal place for winter holidays both for professionals and beginners. Ski Jewel will include the following tracks: blue tracks - 32km, red tracks - 77km, the black tracks - 18km.
New Ski Jewel alpine skiing region in Austria will enter the top ten largest areas in the Tyrol. It is expected that the new region will be presented in the 2012-2013 season. The approximate cost of a ski pass for 6 days for adults will be 197 Euros. Children ticket will cost half the price: 98.5 Euros.
