Le Sentier is a village in the Vallée de Joux in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, and part of the municipality of Le Chenit. Grand Cunay, Monts de Bière, and Crêt des Danses are located in the area surrounding Le Sentier. In the wider regional area are Mont d'Or, Château Grillet, and the Abbaye de Mont-Sainte-Marie.

History

The place name Le Sentier was first mentioned in 1611. The early settlers came mainly from the municipality of Le Lieu.

Le Sentier is the administrative seat of the municipality of Le Chenit. Until the end of August 2006, the village was the seat of the former La Vallée district.
