Eggerberg is located in Upper Valais on the southern side of the Bernese Alps and on the northern side of the Rhône Valley. Parts of the municipality belong to the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Eggerberg is also part of the Brig-Visp-Naters agglomeration.

Landscape

The municipality includes sunny slopes, meadows, and forests. Eggerberg is part of the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park. Paths for walking and hiking run along the southern Lötschberg ramp and through sunny slopes with views of the Rhône Valley.

History and townscape

Eggerberg has documented medieval origins and was first mentioned in 1307 under the name “Ecun.” The traditional village structure includes traditional Valais houses, chapels, and historic buildings.
