Geographical Location
Rosswald is a settlement in the municipality of Termen in the district of Brig in Valais, Switzerland. The village is located at about 1,800 meters on a high plateau north of the Monte Leone massif and near the Simplon Pass. Folluhorn is located near Rosswald. The surrounding area includes Chriesihorn, Punta d'Aurona, and Furggubäumhorn.
Access and Character of the Village
In summer, Rosswald can be reached by cable car or by road. In winter, access is by cable car from the valley station in Ried-Brig at about 1,030 meters. Rosswald is considered a car-free zone with chalet accommodations and a modern ski area.
Culture and History
Historically, land use on Rosswald included pastureland and alpine farming, while the steep slopes toward Ganter Valley and Ried-Brig were used for forestry. In the wider regional area around Rosswald are Gmeinalp and the Parrocchia Ss. Gervasio E Protasio.
