Saanen is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Bern and the capital of the Obersimmental-Saanen administrative district.

Geographical location

Located at an altitude of around 1,014 metres, the municipality includes the Giferspitz as its highest point at 2,542 metres and the Saane near the Rüttischlucht gorge as its lowest point at 985 metres.

Les Rodomonts is located in the immediate vicinity of Saanen. Corne Aubert, Gummfluh and Château Chamois are situated in the surrounding area. Le Pâqueret is located in the wider regional surroundings of Saanen.

Culture and history
