Lauenen: Hotels and Accommodation

In winter, ski touring and snowshoeing are among the activities in Lauenen. Cross-country skiing and winter hiking are also well established. High-alpine tours from Lauenen include ascents towards Gelten or Wildhorn. Trail running is also possible in Lauenen.

The Reformed Church of Lauenen, formerly St Peter's, was built around 1520 in the Late Gothic style, using an earlier structure. The choir's tracery windows contain stained-glass works by Leo Steck. The interior furnishings include a carved wooden ceiling, a star vault in the choir, choir stalls with stencilled paintings and a Renaissance pulpit.

The Fondue Caquelon Lauenen is directly accessible from the Lauenen–Tüffi–Lauenensee hiking trail.

Classification

Together with the neighbouring municipalities of Saanen and Gsteig, Lauenen belongs to the Saanenland. The village is regarded as the 43rd mountaineering village, that is, as a mountain village.
