Villeret combines a strong watchmaking tradition with a distinctive natural setting around the Combe Grède. If Villeret is your destination, you can search for accommodation in the village here.
Culture and history
The village is home to the Temple of Villeret, built in 1936 and designed by Charles Kleiber. Inside are stained-glass windows by Henri Vermeil and Auguste Labouret.
Watchmaking shaped Villeret from 1725 onwards and, partly through Blancpain, changed the village's factories, residential neighbourhoods and public infrastructure. Blancpain SA was founded in Villeret in 1735.
Local production is also part of the village's character. The local cheese dairy produces Tête de Moine, Villeret spécial and Villerêve.
Nature
The Combe Grède is a nature reserve with almost vertical rock faces. Chamois and marmots can be found there. The hiking trail from Villeret through the Combe Grède leads to the summit of Chasseral and offers views of the three lakes and the Alps.
Route and access
The ascent through the Combe Grède includes sections with ladders. Rockfalls can occur at any time in the area of this ladder section. To access the Combe Grède, vehicles may only be parked on the village square; Rue de la Combe Grède is closed to motorised traffic.
The Combe Grède can be reached by public transport and has a picnic area. The trail opens on 11 May 2026.
