Culture and History

The Ermita de San Mamés is a single-nave building with a semicircular apse and a straight presbytery section. Of the seven hermitages that once existed in Montenegro de Cameros, it is the only one that has survived; it has been restored, dates from the 9th century and contains remnants of Romanesque paintings.

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is a Gothic church from the 16th century. It has an altarpiece of the Virgen del Rosario attributed to Alonso de Sedano. The church also contains a 13th-century statue of the Virgin Mary.
