Culture and History

The Catedral-Basílica de San Martiño is a transitional Romanesque cathedral dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. Its outstanding areas include the Capilla del Santo Cristo, the Pórtico del Paraíso and the Museo Catedralicio.

The historic centre of Ourense covers approximately 20 hectares and was declared a historic-artistic site in 1975. At the Claustro de San Francisco, a square Gothic-style floor plan meets a strongly pronounced Romanesque tradition.
