Culture and Architecture
Sant Feliu de Barruera is one of the churches included in the UNESCO World Heritage site “Catalan Romanesque Churches of the Vall de Boí”. The church features architectural elements from the 11th and 12th centuries. The single-nave church has a slightly pointed barrel vault. The churches Esglesia de Sant Esteve de Ginast, Esglesia de Sant Climent and Pilaret de Sant Urbà are also located around Barruera. For planning purposes, the town and its surroundings can be considered separately when looking at cultural sites.
Trails and Water
The Ruta Salencar de Barruera is a very easy 1.5-kilometre circular trail that takes about one hour and has no elevation gain. For this route, you can read the distance, approximate duration and elevation gain as separate details when planning your day. The Barruera–El Pont de Saraís route (Camí de l'aigua) begins below Sant Feliu by the river and follows the river to Pont de Saraís. When planning, the two types of trail can be considered side by side without turning their descriptions into a single route.
Below Barruera lies the Salencar de Barruera, also known as Pantano de Cardet. The reservoir is located at an altitude of around 1,080 metres and collects the water of the Noguera de Tor. The Salencar de Barruera features wetland vegetation with reed beds and riverside woodland, including willows and ash trees.
Landscape in the Surrounding Area
The peaks Furcat, Pico Gelada and Pic de Planamorrons are located in the immediate surroundings of Barruera. The peak el Corronco is located around Barruera. When planning, you can read these references to places separately from the destinations by the water.
When comparing accommodation in Barruera, you can first compare travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions on booking pages. Such a comparison organises your booking details and keeps the individual points to check clearly side by side for your personal decision.
Further Activities
The Skatepark de Barruera has ramps that make it possible to perform skateboarding and other riding tricks. The Pump Track is a closed circuit with curves, jumps and descents on which cyclists can ride without pedalling. These two facilities can be considered separately according to the riding tricks and the form of the circuit. The green orientation course consists of very easy, short routes with little elevation gain, suitable for families who are beginning to interpret maps and practise orienteering.
