Escadarchs: Ruta Romà nic and Local History
Ruta Romà nic and Hiking
The Ruta Romà nic leads through Escadarchs and follows a 14 km circular route. The estimated duration for the complete circuit is four hours. It also includes 261 m of elevation gain and a medium level of difficulty. The route therefore combines a clearly defined course with a classification in terms of time and physical demands. Length and elevation gain describe different requirements: in addition to the distance to be covered, the ascent is also part of the tour. The medium level of difficulty identifies the route as a moderately challenging hiking trail. As a circular route, it returns to the course of the starting section rather than simply forming a single section between two points.

Landscape
The mountain Montaña de Alp is located in the vicinity of Escadarchs. The surrounding area also includes the mountain la Tosa, the summit les Suquetes, and the summit Cap del Serrat Gran. In the wider regional area is the Emprius de la Llosada park. The landscape destinations mentioned thus include mountains, summits, and a park. Montaña de Alp is assigned to the immediate vicinity, while la Tosa, les Suquetes, and Cap del Serrat Gran belong to the surrounding area. The Emprius de la Llosada park is located in a more broadly defined regional area.
Culture and Architectural History
The Museu Municipal De LlÃvia is located in the vicinity of Escadarchs. At the Cal Bep i cal Ferrer d'Escadarcs estate, a cattle-shoeing frame has been preserved at the crossroads of the roads to Alp and Estoll. The forge is therefore connected with a specific agricultural craft that has been handed down at this crossroads. The frame has been preserved as a structural testimony to this craft, while the roads to Alp and Estoll establish the historical context of the estate.
Townscape
Cal Balart d'Escadarcs is a typical farmhouse of the Cerdanya. Its buildings form a closed complex and therefore do not appear as loosely distributed individual structures. The Church of Sant Jaume d'Escadarcs is also part of Escadarchs's architectural history. No surviving church building is documented: the Church of Sant Jaume d'Escadarcs has not been preserved.
Festivals and Craft
Escadarchs and Estoll jointly celebrate a festival in December in honor of Saint Eulà lia. The festival date is assigned to December, and the occasion involves both places. Cattle shoeing is also associated with the Cerdanya. Around 1979, Joan Blanc i Cordomà was the last person to practice this craft in the Cerdanya. The festival and the history of the craft belong to different time frames: the joint festival takes place in December, while the reference to around 1979 describes the situation of cattle shoeing at that time.
Historic Road
The forge at Cal Bep i cal Ferrer d'Escadarcs was located on the historic King's Road to Puigcerdà . This connection to the road links the forge with an earlier transport route. Together with the preserved cattle-shoeing frame, the forge points to the estate's craft and transport-related past.
